Sometimes it is not possible to repair Windows 7 or Vista because disk has bad blocks, you have to log in command prompt fromn installation DVD, here are couple of commands that helps
chkdsk /f (/R /B)
sfc /scannow
After that Windows says something like Windows 7 will boot normally or continue to repair itself after reboot
